From fabulous gowns to full-on frock horror

Mad Men's Christina Hendricks chose a Christian Siriano gown. Breaking Bad's Anna Gunn wore a Romona Keveza dress. Modern Family's Sofia Vergara wowed in an eye-popping red lace Vera Wang dress.
You could forget about the gongs at the Emmys on Sunday night. Really, it was all about the gowns - even more so than at the Oscars.

Who knows what an Emmy looks like, anyway - and half are given out for cocky American television shows, screened here on cable channels in the middle of the night.

But fear not, there was plenty of fun to be had elsewhere from this particular thespian orgy of self-congratulation and back-slapping.

Every year it's a skirmish between fabric and flesh as the vital question must be answered: Which one of them will garner the most publicity, and therefore the eye of the next casting director?

Usually the men are left off the fashion radar at events such as the Emmy Awards.

However, E! host Ryan Sea-crest found himself to be a talking point for all the wrong reasons on Sunday afternoon.

Ryan bumped into not just one, but two actors on the red carpet wearing the same district grey suits that featured satin peak lapels.
