Although ‘bubble nails’, also known as ‘hump nails’ have actually been around since 2009, the trend appears to have resurfaced recently. And it’s blowing up your Instagram feed. The technique is achieved by building up acrylic in the middle of the nail and thinning it out around the edges, to create a curve. It’s up to the client how curvy they want to go.
Here’s how Nails magazine describe the process: ‘Bubble nails require building and sculpting of the acrylic until you get the look your client wants to achieve. You have to know exactly where the hump is supposed to be, then slowly build the nails. The curve has to be perfect’.
Just to be clear, they add, bubble nails are not to be confused with ‘water bubble nails’ which are ‘enhancements that feature encased nail embellishments suspended in water.’ Minds. Blown. People have been showing off their lady humps on Instagram for a while now. Are you ready, show off your nail.....
