Alleged 19.2bn fraud: Court dismisses charge against Sylva

I had been expecting this to happen, well according to the report an Abuja Division of the Federal High Court has finally dismissed a 42-count criminal charge leveled against the Former Governor of Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva. Trial Justice, Ahmed Ramat Mohammed, in his ruling said that the charge raised by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC,‎ against the former Bayelsa State Governor constituted an abuse of court process.

The EFFC in the charge claimed that Sylva used three separate companies to siphone a total of N19.2bn from the Bayelsa state treasury. According to the Commission, Sylva committed the fraud between 2009 and 2012 while presiding as the State Governor.
