Agitated relatives of MH370 victims refuse to believe wing fragment came from the doomed jet

Bao Lanfang, whose daughter-in-law, son and granddaughter were aboard MH370 breaks down in tears

Grieving relatives of those aboard doomed flight MH370 have refused to believe a recently-discovered aircraft wing fragment came from the vanished passenger jet. And while many broke down in tears in an emotionally charged protest today, French and Australian investigating officials have distanced themselves from the certainties offered by Malaysia's Prime Minister Najib Razak.

Although the likelihood of the debris being from MH370 is almost beyond doubt, the lingering lack of certainty continues to cause agony among family members of those aboard the flight. Yesterday Najib told gathered media tests had 'conclusively confirmed' the piece of plane wing was from the missing jet.

But at a news conference in Paris, Deputy Prosecutor Serge Mackowiak declined to confirm that the debris belonged to MH370, though he said there were strong indications that it did. The Australian government, which leads the seabed search for wreckage west of Australia, was also less certain than Malaysia, saying only that 'based on high probability, it is MH370.'
