Man shot dead by police in North London

Man shot dead by police in Enfield, North London

A man has been shot dead by a police officer in North London, Scotland Yard has said. They were initially called at 9.35pm to a property in Barnet making threats to kill and he was believed to have a gun. He fled the scene before officers got there. However, officers later went to an address in Cedar Road, Enfield, shortly before midnight last night where a white man was shot dead by police.

He is believed to be in his 40s and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Met Police said in a statement: ‘A non-police firearm has been recovered from the scene. The Directorate of Professional Standards (DPS) is in attendance at the scene.

‘As a matter of routine, the incident has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) for investigation.’
