Police arrest three while initiating 35 students into cultism

The police in Edo State have arrested three persons for allegedly initiating 35 students of various tertiary institutions in the state into cultism. The suspects, Kingsley Nwachuckwu, Amoo Oboba and Innocent Essien, were arrested at the Ogbese forest in Ovia North East Local Government area of the state.

According to reports, 15 of the students were from a particular tertiary institution in the state. It was also gathered that the suspects, who specialize in moving from state to state to initiate students into cultism, were swooped on by policemen during the initiation ceremony following a tip-off.

Confirming the arrest, the Edo State police spokesman, DSP Stephen Onwochei, disclosed that a locally made revolver pistol and three live cartridges were recovered from a car belonging to the suspects.

According to DSP Onwochei, the police would investigate cult related activities and armed robbery because of the high rate of armed robbery in the area, adding that the suspects would be charged to court.
