Paris attacks fugitive Salah Abdeslam still on the run

Paris attacks fugitive Salah Abdeslam still on the run as 16 are arrested in Brussels

The target of one of the largest manhunts in European history is still on the run as Belgian police arrested 16 people in a string of raids over the weekend.

Salah Abdeslam, who has been billed by some as Public Enemy No. 1 for his alleged role in the 13 November attacks on Paris, is known to have crossed into Belgium but police have so far been unable to trace his movements.

Federal prosecutor Eric Van Der Sypt said 16 people had been arrested in 22 raids in Brussels and Charleroi in the southern party of the country, but Abdeslam was not among them. He added that ‘no firearms or explosives were discovered’ in the raids.
