Photos: A minute's silence is held across the France

President Francois Hollande (centre above) observed the silence at the French capital's Sorbonne University, in recognition of the large number of young people among the 132 dead. Another 352 were injured, scores of them seriously in a wave of deadly attacks which included suicide bomb attacks at the Stade de France, mass shootings at restaurants, cafes and bars and a massacre at Bataclan music hall. 

Hollande stood in a crowd of students, some with their heads bowed, others looking up defiantly.Crowds gathered at a makeshift monument at Republique Plaza in a neighborhood targeted by the attacks, where a banner reads 'Can't Scare Us.' Three people set up a French flag in front of the Carillon restaurant before people fell silent in front of the Carillon restaurant, the scene of one of the mass shootings on Friday.
