Last person born in 1800s reveals secret to her long life

Last person born in 1800s reveals secret to her long life

Emma Morano is not just the oldest person in the world, she’s also the last person to be born in the 1800s who’s still alive. The Italian, whose birth date is November 29 1899, took the mantle from Mushatt Jones, who died on Thursday in New York, also aged 116.

And as with every oldest person in the world she has revealed the secret to her longevity.

It’s two raw eggs and 100g of raw steak a day.

OK, maybe it’s not as simple as that but that’s what she eats at the moment.

‘I am doing fine -116!’ Ms Morano told well-wishers yesterday from her bed after it was announced she was the new world’s oldest person.

Italy is known for its centenarians and gerontologists at the University of Milan are studying Ms Morano, along with a handful of Italians over 105, to try to figure out why they live so long.
