An irate crowd on Friday beat up and stripped a suspected phone thief naked in Ogun state. The suspect, a notorious ‘pick pocket’ in the Enugada area of Abeokuta, the state capital, was caught red handed when he stole a phone in a hairdresser’s shop.
The hairdresser raised the alarm when the suspect took to his heels but a serious chase ensued and he was caught.
But for policemen from the Enugada Police station, the suspect would have been lynched by the mob who had beaten and stripped him.
