
The protesters carried banners reading ‘against rapists’, ‘together we’re stronger’ and ‘we’re all bleeding’ as the marched through the main streets of the city. A recent study, estimated that just over one in every 200 women in Brazil has been the victim of sexual violence.
The victim of the attack in Rio spoke out in an interview with CNN Brazil two days ago but kept her identity hidden.
She said: ‘If I have to wait for the justice system, they’ve already shown that nothing is going to happen,” she said with her face hidden.
‘I am waiting for the justice of God. That might be late but it never fails.’
