6 killed as gunmen spray buses with bullets

A report from Nairobi said that six people were killed on Friday when gunmen sprayed two passenger buses with bullets in north-eastern Kenya.

The attack which was attributed to the Somali Islamist group al-Shabaab, occurred between Elwak and Wargadud in Mandera County.

It disclosed that a police reservist who was on board to escort the passengers was among those killed, while another reservist was injured. Meanwhile, security officials were unable to give the total number of injured victims.

They warned that due to the security threat posed by al-Shabaab, non-locals living in the county would not be allowed to travel by bus until the end of Ramadan.
