Thousands of Lagosians woke up this morning without expecting the surprise waiting for them at their various Bus Stations. Unknown to many commuters, the authority of LAGBUS, the operator of Reb BRT Buses had a change of plans to their routes. The change of routes was posted on their Facebook page and on their official twitter handle @LAGBUSOfficial.
Even with the change of routes and plans the Red Buses are no where to be seen and this added to the pain commuters went through this morning. The Red Buses are off the roads and the franchise too did not operate.
According to statement, the RED Buses BRT will longer ply Ikorodu road and will not use the dedicated BRT corridors anymore. The story is the same from Ikorodu, Berger, Ketu, Mile 12, Ojota and many other routes that enjoy the RED Buses.
Many are however pleading with the State Governor to have a rethink and look into the situation as this decision was surprising to many Lagosians. The Yellow buses also did not help the situation as they increase their fares by more than 200%. For example Ojota - Yaba used to go between N100.00 & N150.00 now is high as N300.00.
The Blue BRT which had a great day at work however did not provide numbers of Buses needed to commute passengers to their various location along Ikorodu Road and CMS.
