Britain’s youngest mum who gave birth aged 12 after being raped by her brother is expecting her second child. Tressa Middleton has revealed that she is pregnant with fiance Darren Young’s baby.
The 23-year-old was forced to give away her first child, a daughter, ten years ago after it emerged that the little girl’s father was Tressa’s brother. She later fell pregnant again but suffered a miscarriage.
Middleton, who lives in Bathgate, Scotland, said: ‘I just want things to be perfect this time around.’
Speaking to the Mirror, she said that she had a ‘little cry’ when she saw the two positive lines because although she was happy she was ‘desperately sad as well’.
She said: ‘Not having my daughter with me still affects me every single day and I thought I was being punished for what happened with her, for letting her go.
‘Discovering I was pregnant was bittersweet. I am so excited about what the future holds and I already love my baby. I am so grateful I am finally going to be the mother I have longed to be all these years.
‘But I don’t ever want my first child to think I abandoned her, or that I am replacing her with this new baby. I’d welcome her back tomorrow with open arms if I could and I hope she knows she will always be a part of our family.’
Tressa found out she was pregnant aged 11, shortly after being sent back to live with her family following years in care. Her brother Jason, then 16, was sent back too.
It was then that he attacked her. She kept the identity of her baby’s father a secret until she gave birth, and then she confided in a friend after breaking down while drunk.
After the arrival of the baby, Annie, Tressa found it difficult to cope and became hooked on alcohol and drugs. Annie was later taken into care and put up for adoption.
Jason has since been jailed for the attack after DNA tests proved he was the father.
