The 41-year-old mother of two (inset) died after being shot and stabbed in the street outside her constituency surgery in Birstall, near Leeds, last Thursday.
Today Parliament was recalled and her husband Brendan and their two children Cuillin, five, and Lejla, three, watched from the public gallery as MPs called her murder 'an attack on democracy'.
Flowers were placed on Jo Cox's seat (main picture) and MPs wore white roses themselves - the symbol of her beloved Yorkshire. Close friend Rachel Reeves was unable to finish her speech as she broke down in tears (left).
Her voice broke and she collapsed into her seat as she said: 'Batley and Spen will go on to elect a new MP but no one can replace a mother.' David Cameron looked on the verge of tears and repeatedly wiped his eyes after he paid his tribute to 'a loving, determined passionate and progressive politician'.
Labour's Stephen Kinnock, wearing a pro-EU badge, said his friend of 20 years had been assassinated and criticised a UKIP poster released on the day she died. At the end of the session MPs broke out into an extraordinary two-minute round of applause (bottom left) as they left the Commons chamber, with Mr Cox and his children waving to them from above.
